Arrival in Budapest

 

 

By air

If you are flying into or out of Budapest, you will be using Budapest's Ferihegy Airport.

Options to get from the airport

Public Transportation

Take Airport Bus to the end station -Kőbánya-Kispest- and there take the blue line metro to Center.

Train

Take train to Nyugati Pályaudvar from Ferihegy 1 Airport - Terminal 1. Tickets can be purchased in the terminal from 9am to 10pm and outside these hours can be purchased on the train.

All normal trains on the Budapest-Cegléd-Szolnok route stop at this station.

Minibus Service

Door to door like a taxi you ride with others. The Airport Minibus leaves every 15-30 minutes from the airport and will take you to any destination within Budapest. The cost is 2300 HUF each way if bought separate or 3900 HUF if you buy a round trip ticket – vaild for 6 months. Tickets can be purchased in the Arrival Hall at the Airport Minibus counter. Airport Minibus counters are open daily 05:00 - 01:00. If you want to use this service on the way back to the airport you'll need to book it 48 hours in advance call.

Taxi Services

The official partner of Airport is Zóna Taxi. They are cheaper than the other companies and maybe ruder;)

Other Companies:

Call a taxi service and they will come with in 5-10 min. Remember the company you call as you will look for the logo on the taxi. Never pay more than 5000 or 6000 HUF.

By train

There are many direct rail links between Budapest and the major capitals and cities of Europe. Budapest has three major intenational railway stations: Keleti Pályaudvar, Nyugati Pályaudvar, Déli Pályaudvar. All the stations are about 45 minutes from the airport and have connection to the metro system and other public transport.

Keleti Pályaudvar - East Station

VIII. Baross tér 313-6835        Most international trains leave from Keleti.        

Tickets for domestic IC trains can be ordered by phone 24 hours.        

Domestic and international information desk open 24 hours.        

Serves: Eger, Miskolc

Nyugati Pályaudvar - West Station

VI. Nyugati tér 349-01-15        

Tickets for domestic IC trains can be ordered by phone 349-85-03.        

Domestic IC trains information desk is open 3:30 - 23:00.        

Serves: Debrecen, Szeged

Déli Pályaudvar - Southern Station

I. Krisztina körút 375-62-93        

Domestic and international information 24 hours by phone 355-86-57.        

Domestic desk open 3.30-0.30.        

International desk open 6-17.45.        

Serves: Lake Balaton, Győr, Pécs

By coach

The international coach station is at Népliget. The sation can be accessed by metro #2.

By ship

Boats and hydrofoils arrive at the International Boat Station, located near Szabadság híd on Belgrád rakpart. Scheduled services from Vienna and Bratislava to Budapest between April and October.
